Only one price drop in this week's Intel charts made it (barely) into double-digits: a $10 cut to the price of the Pentium D 820. The rest of the Intel section of the guide is as slow as we've seen it in quite a while, with few prices dropping at all and none falling by more than a few dollars. This is also the second week in a row that we find mostly stable Core 2 Duo/Extreme prices, and it looks like Intel has found its sweet spot for this popular line of CPUs. Even worse, the 2.66 GHz Core 2 Duo E6700 even increased by $9 this week.
With Halloween right around the corner, we have no new tricks and precious few treats to share in this week's guide. New product introductions seem slow to come, subsequently resulting in little downward price movement on existing processors. But we'll keep holding out hope that we'll see more of both in future editions, especially as Intel is rumored to be introducing a quad core processor in the very near future.
