As in the AMD section of the guide, the Intel section is stable, and most of the Celeron D, Pentium 4, Pentium D, and Core 2 Duo/Extreme prices we track are holding steady again this week. But we do see a couple of modest price decreases, including a $13 drop in the price of the 2.93 GHz Core 2 Extreme X6800 and a $10 cut to the price of the 3.2 GHz Pentium 4 641. The Pentium D price levels remain consistent for another week, even in the face of continued Core 2 Duo pressure, while the powerful Core 2 Extreme QX6700 quad core processor is not yet available in mass-market quantities.
CPU price drops, in this guide, continue to be few and far between, with most of the AMD and Intel processor prices we track continuing to hold steady for yet another week. But considering just how much power we can get for our money these days, it's hard to hard to be too down on recent processor pricing trends when CPU value is hitting all-time highs.
