Unfortunately, we don't have any three-digit Core 2 Duo price drops in this week's Intel charts to match what we saw with Athlon 64 X2 processors in the AMD section of the guide. Only one Intel price fell by more than a few dollars in fact: the Pentium D 940, which dropped $16 from last week's price. The Core 2 Duo/Extreme listings were remarkably consistent this week, although AMD's price drops may force Intel's hand very soon.
While most of the processor prices we track held steady for yet another consecutive week, a few scattered price drops help keep things interesting, with the biggest being a three-digit drop. Will we see more such drops next week? Who knows... but with AMD lowering the boom on some of their high-end Athlon 64 X2 models, the odds are good that Intel will react in some way.
