While certainly not as dramatic as the huge Athlon 64 FX-62 price drop we saw in the AMD section of the guide, a $12 cut to the price of the Pentium D 920 is welcome nonetheless, especially considering this brings it below the $150 level, to a new price of $147. Unfortunately, this is one of only three drops in the entire Intel chart, with most prices either holding steady or moving upwards. The popular Core 2 Duo models certainly didn't join in the party, and to make matters worse, some even inched up by a few dollars.
This week's CPU price guide, we're sorry to say, continues in the same consistent pricing trend set by the two previous updates in 2007. While a significant price cut in the AMD chart did spice things up a bit, it by no means started a new AMD-Intel price war. In fact, this week's price drops are few and far between, with most of the processors we track holding right where they have been for weeks.
