While the price drops in this week's Intel charts are, once again, somewhat less dramatic than what we saw in the AMD section of the guide, we do still have a few to report, with the biggest being a $17 drop in the price of the 2.8 GHz Pentium D 915. Just as importantly, though, this week's edition also sees the debut of the first Core 2 Quad processors to appear in the guide, as the 2.4 GHz Core 2 Quad Q6600 and 2.66 GHz Core 2 Extreme QX6700 join the Intel chart.
This week's CPU price guide finally sees a slight thaw in the seemingly frozen prices that had plagued recent editions, and there were some noticeable decreases throughout the AMD and Intel charts. And while the price cuts may not be as huge, nor as numerous, as we might like, some of the prices contained in this edition should come as welcome news to potential buyers. The only bad news is that these drops are accompanied by some price increases, as a few of the more popular Athlon 64 X2 and Core 2 Duo models jumped anywhere from $10-$15 this week.
