While most of the prices tracked in the Intel sections of the guide are holding steady, we did get a couple of noteworthy price decreases. An $11 drop in the price of the 3.0 GHz Pentium D 930 and a $17 cut to the price of 3.2 GHz Pentium D 940 might not be earth-shattering, but these should come as welcome news to potential buyers of those two processors, especially given that the price drops came on what were already relatively low prices. Unfortunately, the Core 2 Duo, Quad and Extreme processors didn't follow along, and prices maintained a stable trend in this area.
As we approach the end of the first quarter of 2007, the AMD and Intel CPU prices we track continue to stagnate. But while huge price drops don't seem to be on the horizon, new product introductions and processor debuts do help to keep things interesting.
