Once again, AMD is playing the price-drop game, but Intel is not joining in. For the most part, the Intel section of the guide is more sedate than what we saw in the AMD chart, especially with the corresponding Core 2 Duo, Quad and Extreme processors. This lack of mainstream and high-end activity is troubling, but a couple of $12 price drops, on the Celeron D 355 and the XEON 5140, do help keep things somewhat interesting.
A handful of modest price drops can be found scattered throughout this week's price guide, and although Intel failed to follow suit, these resulted in a few choice deals at the Athlon 64 X2 4600+ to 5200+ range. And while none of the price drops is truly earth shattering, they are welcome nonetheless and help to keep things lively in an otherwise sedate guide.
