If you thought this week's AMD prices were less exciting than what we saw in last week's CPU price guide, it is nothing compared to the lack of movement in the Intel charts. The biggest drops to be found in this section of the guide amount to a paltry $3. And other than this trio of $3 price drops and a single $1 cut, we have nothing else in the way of Intel price decreases to report. There is some good news, as rumors persist that Intel is going to lower CPU prices across-the-board, with special attention given to the Core 2 Duo and Quad lines.
Unfortunately, last week's deep AMD price drops haven't led to more of the same in either camp. The $81 cut to the price of the Athlon 64 X2 5400+ is nice, and a couple of other processors we track did experience moderate price drops, but the overwhelming majority of these are holding steady. So it would seem that if we're to see any Intel response to last week's AMD drops, we'll have to wait a bit longer to find out.
