It looks like the juicy Core 2 Duo and Quad price drops are now a thing of the past, and just like in the AMD section of the guide, most of the CPU prices tracked in our Intel charts either held steady or dropped by only a few dollars. Also, following what we saw in the other area of our guide, only a single price fell by double-digits: the 3.0 GHz XEON 5160, which dropped $19 from last week's price.
Overall CPU price drops remain a rare find in this week's processor guide, with most prices holding steady and none falling by enough to stir any real excitement. A couple of double-digit prices (one from each camp) are about as much as there is to be found, in fact; and even those are too modest to consider noteworthy. After the wild activity of the past month or so, it's hardly surprising that both AMD and Intel camps have gone back to a stable pricing pattern, but we're hoping some upcoming CPU releases can start the war anew.
