As in the AMD section of the guide, only one processor in the Intel chart fell by enough to be noteworthy; but it fell by so much, percentage-wise, that we can only guess it's being cleared out by vendors. Still, that $58 drop in the tracked price of the Pentium D 940 may come as welcome news to anyone looking to upgrade an older system to that processor. Otherwise, it was business as usual; the mainstream and high-end Core 2-based models followed the AMD lead, and showed virtually no change from last week.
Once again, we're presented with the recent pattern of each of the AMD and Intel sections of the guide containing one significant price drop, while the overwhelming majority of prices hold right where they've been for weeks. This is likely about as exciting as it's going to get until the two camps start introducing some new processors and moving away from some of the older ones.
