As in the AMD section of the guide, only one of the Intel CPU prices we track fell by more than a few dollars. The 2.4 GHz Core 2 Quad Q6600 is the winner this week, and its price dropped by $16. Since the processor currently has a $509 price tag, however, it's hard to get too excited about this news. The rest of the Intel processor chart, meanwhile, is almost entirely devoid of noticeable price drops.
While a couple of AMD and Intel price drops can be found in this week's guide, the overwhelming majority of tracked prices remain as frozen in place as they have been for weeks. As a new quarter approaches, however, we're hopeful that rumors of impending price cuts and new processor introductions will result in some downward price movement in the coming weeks.
