While most of the CPU prices we track in the Intel section of the guide have held as steady as their AMD counterparts, two processors fell by enough to make things moderately interesting. The biggest drop came in on the 2.4 GHz Core 2 Quad Q6600, which fell by $29, and dropped the only mainstream quad core processor below the $500 baseline. This was followed by an $18 cut to the price of the 2.0 GHz XEON 5130.
Once again, two significant price drops help keep things from being a complete wash as far as the AMD and Intel processors we track in the guide go. On average, though, market prices continue to stagnate across the guide, with few CPU prices dropping at all and fewer still decreasing by enough to be noteworthy.
