Price drops are just as rare in the Intel charts as we saw in their AMD counterparts, with only one model falling by double-digits... and it did so barely, at that. But that $10 drop in the price of the Pentium D 920 was somewhat overshadowed by the $20 move upwards in the price of the XEON 5150. The popular Core 2 processors were remarkably stable again this week, with the largest decrease being a $5 cut to the price of the 2.4 GHz Core 2 Quad Q6600.
By and large, AMD and Intel processor prices continue to stagnate in this latest guide, just as they have for weeks. Price drops of any amount remain the exception, with significant price decreases becoming something of a rarity. But as we pass the close of another fiscal quarter and move into one that has historically brought increased price competition, we're hopeful that we'll see some more downward price movement in the coming weeks.
