While most of the prices we track in the Intel sections of the guide are holding steady, we do see a couple of modest drops and one huge one: a $121 cut to the price of the 2.4 GHz Core 2 Quad Q6600. The 2.0 GHz Core 2 Duo E4400 shed $17 off its retail price, and on the other side, there were several double-digit price increases as well. As in the AMD section, furthermore, we also see a few Intel processors appear in this guide for the first time.
A few scattered price drops, combined with some newly debuting processors to the guide, help keep things interesting as the overwhelming majority of the prices we track continue to hold steady. But hopefully the one big Core 2 Quad price drop we saw in the Intel section of the guide is a sign that we're finally going to see an Intel response to the AMD activity of a few weeks ago.
