Unfortunately, this week's biggest price change is not a drop, but an increase; a $35 jump, in fact, in the tracked price of the 3.0 GHz Core 2 Extreme QX6850. But this mostly backtracks on some of last week's $59 price cut to the same processor. The rest of the Intel chart is mostly stagnant, though we do see a $10 drop in the price of the XEON 5345 and a $16 drop in the price of the XEON 5455. We also welcomed a new member to the club, in the form of the 2.66 GHz Core 2 Duo E6750.
The CPU prices we track, for the most, continue to hold steady in this week's guide, as they have for weeks. We do see a few scattered AMD and Intel price drops, here and there, along with a few price increases. But such price changes are few and far between, and both CPU giants seem to be taking the rest of the summer off.
