If you thought the AMD sections of the guide lacked much in the way of price drops, just wait 'til you see the Intel prices. These were the height of consistency, and of the 26 prices we track in the Intel charts, only one fell at all; and that lone price drop was a paltry $1 cut to the 1.86 GHz XEON 5120. The prices of the Core 2 Duo, Quad and Extreme processors didn't even fare that well, and a few of the entry-level models even increased in price.
This has been one of the slowest weeks, as far as CPU price changes go, in a very long time. Only four of the 49 AMD and Intel prices we track saw any downward movement; and only one fell by a noteworthy amount. So if you've been waiting for the next round of significant drops before making your next CPU purchase, you'll likely be waiting for at least a little while longer.
