While we don't see anything in this week's Intel guide that even comes close to the triple-digit drop we had in last week's edition, an additional $50 cut to the price 3.0 GHz Core 2 Extreme QX6850 after that recent huge decrease is welcome news, nonetheless. The rest of the Intel prices pretty much held steady, although there is a slight downward trend with top-end Core 2 models, and some higher prices affected a few entry-level models like the Core 2 Duo E6320 (1.86 GHz) and E6420 (2.13 GHz).
Unfortunately, last week's one huge price drop does seem to end up being a sign of things to come, and other than an additional $50 off that same processor, the rest of the high-end (and high priced) Core 2 Extreme models remained very consistent. But a few modest price drops and a new AMD processor debut to help keep things interesting, nonetheless, in this week's CPU price guide.
