This week's Intel chart is chock-full of zeroes, with most of the tracked prices sticking right where they have been for weeks. We did see a few modest drops, though, with the largest being a $12 cut to the tracked price of the 2.93 GHz Core 2 Extreme QX6800. But given its $1,018 price tag, it's hard to get too excited about such a relatively insignificant drop. The non-Extreme, Core 2-based processors displayed very stable pricing, although we did spice things up by welcoming the 2.66 GHz Core 2 Quad Q6700 to the chart.
For yet another consecutive week, the overwhelming majority of AMD and Intel CPU prices we track in this guide continue to stagnate, with drops being few, small, and very far between. But as newer products make their way into the guide, we're hopeful that the coming weeks will see existing processor entries begin to drop in price.
