Intel Comments

As in the AMD section of the guide, Intel CPU prices mostly held steady in this week's guide. We did see a couple of modest price drops, with a $30 cut to the tracked price of the Core 2 Extreme QX6850 (3.0 GHz) and the Core 2 Extreme QX6700 (2.66 GHz) falling by $10. But given that these drops only brought the two processors down to $999 and $950, respectively, it's hard to get too excited about the news, especially as the rest of the Core 2 prices hovered right around last week's level.

General Comments

The prices we track in the guide continue to hold steady for the most part, with only a few processors dropping at all and none of them cutting too much off the bottom line. But with a new quarter starting and the holiday shopping season right around the corner, hopefully the near future has more in the way of Intel and AMD price drops in store for us.
