A couple of double-digit drops help keep the Intel sections of the guide from being quite as stagnant compared to their AMD counterparts. These included a $10 price cut to the 3.0 GHz Core 2 Extreme QX6850 and a $25 drop on the 2.93 GHz Core 2 Extreme X6800, both of which are still hovering just under the $1K mark. But with the majority of tracked prices continuing to hold steady, two modest drops to a couple of high-priced "Extreme" processors certainly aren't enough to stir up much excitement.
The ongoing trend of CPU price stagnation continues for yet another consecutive week, with the overwhelming majority of tracked AMD and Intel prices holding right where they've been for weeks. But a few scattered price drops do help to break up the monotony, giving hope that we might see more such drops in the coming weeks - especially as Intel is rumored to be introducing new processors in the near future.
