While the Intel processor charts do contain a couple of price drops (literally), these only amount to a measly $2 each, and both were for Xeon models. The rest of the prices tracked, meanwhile, either held right where they have been, or like the 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo E6600 and 2.66 GHz Core 2 Duo E6700, inched upwards in price. The Core 2 Extreme QX9650 was officially released this week, along with fifteen new 45nm Xeon models, and we'll have to wait and see what this launch does to overall prices.
Alas, the recent streak of stagnating CPU prices continues, with only two of the AMD and Intel processors we track in the guide falling at all and none dropping by more than $2. Given that the holiday shopping season is now underway, all we can do is hope that we might have at least a few price drops to look forward to in the coming weeks.
