As in the AMD chart, the Intel section of the guide contains a number of significant price drops as well. And while most of the tracked prices continue to hold steady, four of them fell by double-digits, with the most significant being a $45 drop in the tracked price of the XEON 5365. A few of the Intel Extreme Edition processors also got into the act, as the Core 2 Extreme QX6850 (3.0 GHz) and Core 2 Extreme X6800 (2.93 GHz) fell by $14 and $24, respectively.
After weeks of seemingly frozen-in-place prices, we're happy to report something of a thaw. Each of this week's AMD and Intel charts contains at least four double-digit price drops, which should come as welcome news to those who have been waiting for prices to start coming down before pulling the track on their CPU purchases. We hope this is a sign of things to come, especially as Intel introduced a pile of new 45nm processors at CES.
