Alas, the Intel chart is no more exciting than what we saw in the AMD section of the guide, with only a few processors showing lower prices, and none of them dropping by very much. In fact, the largest desktop CPU price cut was only $6, and that was on the 3.46 GHz Celeron D 360, with $5 shaved off the 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo E6600 being the next highest. The delays on the new 45nm Core 2 Duo, Quad and Extreme processors can be blamed for this continued price stability, as these were all slated to hit on January 20 - theoretically just in time for this guide.
And so the recent trend continues, with the overwhelming majority of AMD and Intel CPU prices holding right where they have been for weeks. Only one of the prices we track, in fact, fell by double-digits, while the rest mostly held steady or moved up/down by just a few dollars.
