Unfortunately, the Intel processor charts lack even the tiny handful of double-digit price drops we saw in the AMD section of the guide, with only three of the prices we track having dropped at all, and none having fallen by more than $4. The only real news is the chart debut of the new Core 2 Duo E8400 (3.0 GHz), which represents Intel's lone 45nm dual-core foray into the mainstream market.
Price drops continue to be few, mostly small, and very far between in this edition of our CPU price guide, with most of the tracked prices continuing to hold steady for yet another week. But those few price drops are joined by some new debuts to the guide, like the Phenom 9600 Black Edition and Core 2 Duo E8400, which help to keep things interesting. Hopefully, both AMD and Intel will introduce new processors very soon, as we are still waiting for the official release of Phenom 9700 and 9900 models, as well as the majority of the upcoming 45nm dual and quad core Intel processors.
