Intel Comments

This week's Intel CPU chart is not completely without price drops, as the tracked price of the 3.0 GHz XEON 5160 fell by $16. But the rest of the prices we track mostly held right where they have been for weeks, but with a few exceptions. One of these is the new 45nm Core 2 Duo 8400 (3.0 GHz) which is turning out to be a very popular, in-demand processor for the high-end market, and as such, its price increased by $15 this week.

General Comments

Unfortunately, both AMD and Intel CPU price drops remain something of a rarity in this week's edition of the guide, with only a handful of the prices we track dropping at all and only one dropping by more than a few dollars. In fact, the only real pricing news is bad news, with popular CPUs like the Phenom 9500 and Core 2 Duo E8400 increasing by double digits.
