While this week's Intel charts contain a few more drops than we saw in the AMD sections of the guide, none of these decreases is large enough to stir up much excitement. And as in the AMD charts, the biggest Intel price change was a move upwards, not downwards, with the tracked price of the 2.33 GHz XEON 5140 going up by $17. A $6 price drop on the Core 2 Quad Q6600 is probably the best Intel deal, as it drives the price below $250.
For yet another consecutive week, CPU prices across all sections of the guide continue to stagnate, with none of the processors we track falling by double digits and most not falling at all. But with AMD preparing to release their quad-core processors in the next quarter and Intel already starting to talk about moving to six cores by the end of the year, we hope it's only a matter of time before existing processors start dropping in price.
