Intel Comments

Unlike in the AMD section of this week's guide, we have some real price drops to report in the Intel charts, with the biggest being a whopping $250 cut to the price of the 2.66 GHz Core 2 Quad Q6700. Add to that a couple of $65 drops, on the 3.0 GHz Core 2 Duo E6850 and the E8400, and this is an extremely good week to go shopping for a new Intel processor.

General Comments

For the first time in weeks, we're happy to report a few significant price drops in this week's guide, with these hitting popular Core 2 Duo and Quad models. And while the majority of the CPU prices we track continue to hold steady or drop by only modest amounts, a few of the prices we track in the Intel section of the guide experienced some pretty big drops (with one in the triple-digit range), giving us hope that the coming weeks will bring more of the same.
