Unfortunately, we're not seeing the same kinds of price drops in this week's Intel charts that we found in last week's guide. But thankfully, we do still see a bit more downward movement here than in the AMD section of the guide, including $25 off the very popular Core 2 Duo E8500 (3.16 GHz), and double-digit cuts to its 3.0 GHz Core 2 Duo E6850 (-$15) and Core 2 Duo E8400 (-$10) counterparts. Even the ultra low-cost Celeron E1200 shaved $10 off its retail price, dropping down to $50.
Overall CPU prices seem to be settling back down, after last week's flurry of Intel Core 2 price cuts. But a few scattered drops are still there to be found, helping to keep things interesting while we wait for the next round(s) of price slashes from one camp, the other, or (ideally) both.
