This week's Intel CPU prices held almost as steady as their AMD counterparts. The Intel processor list does include twice as many drops, one of which (a $10 cut to the 2.33 GHz XEON 5140) made it into double digits - albeit barely. But a total of four Intel price drops, with none exceeding $10, is hardly cause for excitement. This is especially true as even these nominal price drops totally missed the heart of the Core 2 line, and the popular Core 2 Duo E8500 jumped by $5.
Alas, prices have settled back down across all sections of the Weekly CPU Price Guide, with neither camp's offerings falling by very much. Ultimately, it takes new products to force existing processor prices down; and other than a few random Core and Phenom stragglers, we just haven't been seeing very much of that lately.
