Intel Comments

While we have a bit more downward movement in this week's Intel charts than in the AMD sections of the guide (it's not too hard to beat zero price drops, after all), the overwhelming majority of these CPU prices are holding just as steady as their AMD counterparts. Only three Intel processors fell at all, but thankfully, two of these drops hit popular 45nm Wolfdale models - the 3.0 GHz Core 2 Duo E8400 fell by $4, while its 3.16 GHz E8500 sibling dropped $5.

General Comments

Anyone waiting for significant price drops, before buying, is going to have to keep holding out for a little while longer. For yet another week, both AMD and Intel CPU prices continue to stagnate across all of the sections of the guide. Only three of the prices we track fell at all, in fact, and none of those drops even made it into the double digits. With all the new Phenom and Core 2 Duo/Quad debuts over the past few months, overall prices should be more active than this.
