Intel prices, meanwhile, are holding almost perfectly steady, with the only price change to report being a $1 increase in the tracked price of the 3.0 GHz Core 2 Extreme QX6850. But while this week's Intel chart does include something new and noteworthy, namely the introductions of three processors to the guide, those looking for price drops will be disappointed. Then again, the chart debut of processors like the Core 2 Duo E7200 (2.53GHz) and Core 2 Quad Q9450 (2.66GHz) might be reason enough for celebration.
For yet another week, the AMD and Intel price drops remain few and far between in this week's guide, with only two lower prices to be found anywhere in the charts. Worse, the larger of those drops is only a paltry $3. At least some new products are making their way into the guide, giving us hope that existing processors will eventually start dropping in price.
