Most of the prices we track in the Intel charts held just as steady, in this week's guide, as their AMD counterparts. Two exceptions, however, were the tracked prices of the Core 2 Quad Q9450 and the Core 2 Extreme QX6850. These two quad core processors moved in different directions, as the 2.66 GHz Q9450 dropped by $20, which is welcome news; but the 3.0 GHz QX6850 moved up by $18, which is somewhat less welcome. The Core 2 Quad Q6600 and Q9300 both fell by $6, while the Core 2 Duo E8200 shaved $2 off its retail price.
We would love to report that this week's guide finally has loads of price drops... but we can't. Rather, most of the CPU prices we track continued to hold just as steady as we've been seeing for weeks. But hopefully as the weather warms, so too will the competition between the AMD and Intel camps.
