Three of the prices we track in the Intel chart fell by double-digits, with the 2.33 GHz XEON E5345 experiencing a $34 decrease from last week's price. The $30 drop to the 3.2 GHz Core 2 Extreme QX9770 is not that far behind, and $14 was shaved off the retail price of a 2.66 GHz Core 2 Quad Q9450. But whether such drops are signs of things to come or just flukes caused by some vendors' aggressive pricing, remains to be seen.
We're happy to report that there are a handful of AMD and Intel CPU price drops, ranging from modest to significant, in this week's guide and that these can be found scattered throughout most of the charts. But we'd be even happier if lower prices were less the exception and more then norm.
