While most of the prices we track in the Intel charts held every bit as steady as their AMD counterparts, two processors did fall by double-digits. The 3.0 GHz Core 2 Extreme QX9650 dropped $30 compared to last week's price, and the 2.33 GHz XEON E5345 fell by $17. Other than those two listings, it was a very uneventful week for Intel CPU prices, as even price increases were nonexistent.
Unfortunately, after last week's notable price drops in the AMD camp, we just couldn't follow it up this time out. The overall price levels in the processor market seem to be settling back down, and there was a sea of "0" entries in the price change column. A handful did fall from last week's tracked prices, but the vast majority held steady, with only a few experiencing any downward movement at all. But hopefully the coming weeks will see additional price drops, especially as Intel still needs to respond to last weeks' downward movement in the AMD chart.
