Four of the processors we track in the Intel section of the guide fell in price during the past week, with the largest one just barely making it into double-digits. This hit the 2.5 GHz Core 2 Quad Q9300, which received a very welcome $10 drop, and fell to a nice even $250. There were some smaller price increases and decreases, but as in the AMD section of the guide, most of the Intel prices we track seem to be frozen in place.
Price drops on AMD and Intel processors, while still small, few, and far between, are finally starting to crop up with a bit more regularity, and are less an exception to the recent rule of stagnating prices. All we can do, now, is hope that this develops into a pattern that leads to more price drops in the coming weeks, especially as Intel is rumored to be introducing a brand new processor architecture very soon..
