As in the AMD charts, the majority of the Intel CPU prices tracked in this guide held steady, with only two processors experiencing noteworthy drops. The popular 2.4 GHz Core 2 Quad Q6600 received a nice $10 cut from last week's price, while the top-end 3.2 GHz Core 2 Extreme QX9770 dropped by a healthy $30 - but still remains priced at $1,400. A set of prominent CPUs also made their debut this week, and this guide marks the official introduction of the new Intel Core i7 920, 940 and Extreme 965 processors.
A few scattered prices drops should help to keep things interesting for prospective AMD and Intel CPU buyers. But the real news is the appearance of Intel's latest offering, the powerful Core i7, giving us hope that the coming weeks will see older Phenom and Core 2 processors from both camps start dropping in price.
