The Intel processor chart showed slightly better results in this week's guide than did its AMD counterpart. There was a $20 cut in the tracked price of the recently-added 3.2 GHz Core i7 Extreme 965, and while this is the largest drop in the chart, keep in mind that this high-end processor is still selling for over $1K. There were a few smaller price increases and decreases, but by and large, most of the Intel prices we track held steady.
While not completely devoid of pricing activity, this week's AMD and Intel CPU charts showed a few price drops, with most processors displaying consistent pricing, and a few even moving upwards. As we progress towards the end of this year and the beginning of the next, all we can do is hope that we'll be seeing more downward price movement during the holiday season than we have in recent weeks.
