Intel Comments

This week's Intel CPU chart is almost completely devoid of price drops, especially at the mainstream Core 2 Duo/Quad level. In fact, only one processor displayed a price decrease of any kind, and that lone $9 drop on the 3.0 GHz Core 2 Extreme QX9650 is hardly earth-shattering, given that it only brings the processor down to its current price of only $991.

General Comments

Alas, our hopes that last week's handful of price drops would translate into more of the same have gone unrealized, with this week's AMD and Intel CPU price lists holding about as steady as we've seen. Even the continued emergence of the Core i7 as a high-end option has done nothing to spur on Core 2 Duo/Quad price drops, and all we can do is keep hoping that next week's guide will bring more in the way of holiday cheer.
