Intel Comments

As in the AMD section of the guide, two double-digit price drops helped to break up the monotony of an otherwise stagnant week for Intel prices. The 2.13 GHz Core 2 Duo E6400 fell $12 to $176, and the 3.0 GHz Core 2 Quad Q9650 shed $15 to drop down to its current price of $325. Compared to the two AMD CPUs, these decreases were smaller in relative terms, given the higher price tags that the affected Intel processors.

General Comments

While significant price drops remain the exception, rather than the norm, a small handful of price decreases help to keep things interesting this week, as do the trio of new AM3-based Phenom II X3 and X4 processors that debuted in our latest price guide. Let's hope that these new AMD models, and hopefully some upcoming ones from Intel, will drive prices even lower.
