Thankfully, the Intel charts contain a few price drops, one of which is big enough to merit at least some attantion. The Core 2 Quad 9550 and the Core i7 Extreme 975 fell by $10 and $17, respectively. But it's the $50 drop in the tracked price of the Core i7 940 that is likely to draw the attention of potential CPU buyers.
Unfortunately, the overwhelming majority of the prices we track in this guide continued to hold steady, with only a few dropping at all and none dropping by particularly large amounts. But hopefully the coming weeks will bring a thaw in the seemingly frozen prices we've been seeing for a while now.
