For the most part, the Intel prices we track held as steady as their AMD counterparts. But a few did drop in price, and one of those downright plummetted. With a new tracked price of $290, the Core i7 870 has fallen a whopping $265 since our last issue of the guide.
Unfortunately, we didn't see as many price drops in this, our first issue of the CPU price guide since switching to a biweekly schedule (alternating with memory prices), as we would like to have seen. But we're happy to report that one of the few prices that did see drop dropped by literally hundreds of dollars. All we can do now is hope that this might prove to be a sign of price drops yet to come.
