Memory Pricing Guide |
Weekly Memory Prices - Week of Apr 08, 2002 - Page 2By Vangie Beal April 9, 2002
For awhile there I was starting to wonder if the online prices were being pulled out of cache, but finally we hit PC133 CAS3 256mb and found a $1 increase. At that point we knew it was another slow week in SDRAM prices. PC100 modules remain unchanged in price, while the only price decrease in SDRAM memory was on PC133 CAS2 128mb which went down $1 to $40.00. Despite a few nice price drops over the last two weeks, this week DDR SDRAM followed suit with SDRAM. DDR prices remain unchanged except for the $1 decrease on PC2400 256mb. As we've said before, when it comes to DDR memory we'd pick dormant over rising prices anyday. RDRAM turned out to be the liveliest of our memory listings this week as we see a $4 drop on PC800 512mb, along with both a $1 and $2 drop on a few other RIMMs. In light of recent price increases, seeing memory prices remain constant is as much consumers can really ask for. Since memory prices can go up and down on a daily basis, depending on market conditions and availability, we suggest you use our guide only to provide you with an idea on where prices are heading. Keep in mind that many vendors also state that their price applies specifically to phone orders, while others offer their lowest prices on online orders.
