Memory Pricing Guide |
Weekly Memory Prices - Week of August 5, 2002 - Page 2By Vangie Beal August 6, 2002This week, we're seeing more price drops than increases on SDRAM. PC133 ECC 512-MB went down $6 to $103 while PC133 CAS3 128-MB dropped $4 to $25. The biggest price change however was an increase as PC133 CAS2 512-MB which jumped $11 to $109. SDRAM is certainly a mixed bag of goodies this week, depending on what you're shopping for. This week's trip down memory lane takes us back to August 2001 when PC100 CAS3 256-MB was going for $24. One year later we're paying exactly double: $48. Much like SDRAM, this week's DDR prices are down more than they are up. PC2100 512-MB dropped $4 to $98, and a couple of others have decreased by $2 and $3. The only price increase we found was on PC2700 128-MB which is up $3 to $43 this week. These somewhat stable DDR SDRAM prices that we've been seeing over the past couple weeks are giving us a nice upgrade opportunity. As usual, RDRAM prices aren't moving a large amount in either direction. While most RDRAM prices remain unchanged this week, we have a couple of $1 and $2 increases, along with a small $2 price decrease on PC800 ECC 512-MB. It's another calm week in memory, with small fluctuations in overall prices. The biggest ups and downs occured in SDRAM, with an $11 price increase on PC133 CAS2 512-MB and a $6 decrease to PC133 ECC 512-MB. Other than those two we're mainly seeing slight $1-$3 price fluctuations either way. Until next week, we wish you happy upgrading and remember to check prices just before you buy, as price changes are so frequent and at times quite unexpected, that our guide may not be 100% accurate for long.
