Memory Pricing Guide |
Weekly Memory Prices - Week of September 9, 2002 - Page 2By Vangie Beal September 10, 2002After a few weeks of seeing an abundance of price drops on SDRAM, this week we're back to a scenario of very few changes. Most SDRAM modules remain unchanged in price, while a couple decreased by $1 and $2. The biggest drops were in the $5 range, and came in on PC100 CAS2 ECC 128-MB, PC133 CAS3 128-MB, and PC133 CAS3 512-MB. Even so, the best news is that we don't have a single price increase in this category. Much like SDRAM, there were no really noticeable price changes in DDR, but a couple of small decreases and price increases were tossed in for good measure. PC2100 512-MB is up $5 to $94, while PC2700 256-MB went down $5 to $55. RDRAM prices aren't moving around too much this week. PC800 128-MB is up $2 to $42, and PC1066 256-MB 232 pin rose $2 to $119. While we did see a few RIMMs go up slightly in price by $1 and $2, none are down this week. Overall memory prices remain pretty stagnant, but I'm sure we can all agree that this is better news than more price increases. We have only slight price fluctuations across the board, with the rare $5 changes mixed in a few areas. For those looking to upgrade system memory we strongly advise you to check prices just before buying, as memory prices can change so frequently on-line that our guide may not stay current for long. So until next week, hopefully you'll have saved a few bucks if you decided to buy this week rather than last.
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
