Memory Pricing Guide |
Weekly Memory Prices - Week of September 16, 2002 - Page 2By Vangie Beal September 17, 2002This week we see quite a few price changes in SDRAM memory, but this is due mainly to an overhaul of sorts to our guide, rather than an industry trend. Many of the price increases you see (ranging from $4 to $9) come from us listing new vendors with better customer service rather than simply picking the lowest price available. In the 'up' list we have both PC100 CAS2 256-MB and PC100 CAS3 256-MB up by $9 while we found PC133 ECC 512-MB for $69, which is a $10 savings over last week. DDR prices haven't had too many price changes this week, but we did find PC2700 512-MB up $10 to $119 and PC3200 512-MB down $10 to $153. Other than that, it's mostly business as usual for DDR. RDRAM prices have shifted quite a bit this week, but the big price jumps are once again mainly due to a change in vendors listings. PC800 512-MB is the largest of the increases, checking in at a healthy $30 more than last week. We did manage to find PC1066 256-MB 184 pin for $109, which is $9 less than last week. Overall the prices this week are still moving up and down, though as we mentioned above, some of this action is due to our enhanced vendor list. This past week, many of our readers sent in feedback - all of which was given consideration for this week's edition of the Memory Price Guide. For those looking to upgrade their memory we strongly advise you to check prices just before buying as memory prices can change so frequently that our guide may not remain current too long after publishing. Until next week, hopefully you'll save a few bucks if you decided to buy this week rather than last.
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
