Memory Pricing Guide |
Weekly Memory Prices - Week of October 7, 2002 - Page 2By Vangie Beal October 8, 2002For the month of October, SDRAM prices are stable for the most part, but we do see a few price increases which really haven't cropped up for awhile. PC150 512-MB is up $7 to $107, while PC100 CAS3 256-MB has gone up by $4 to $38. The good news is that we also have several SDRAM modules dropping in prices ranging from $1 to $3. This week we have a nice price drop on PC133 CAS3 512-MB, which can be had for $70 - a savings of $5. DDR SDRAM prices are a mixed bag of goodies this week bringing both savings and price increases. PC2100 128-MB and PC2700 512-MB both went up, but only by $1 whereas PC2400 512-MB and PC2700 256-MB dropped in price by $4. The big savings this week is on PC3200 512-MB which is down $6 to $147. While last week's price guide showed no changes on RDRAM prices, this week we managed to find PC800 512-MB at $201 which is $18 less expensive. PC800 ECC 512-MB is down $5 to $260 but both PC800 128-MB and PC800 256-MB went up by $2 and $3 respectively. Overall memory prices are showing a lot more changes than last week. In terms of trends, several of the higher-end 256-MB modules are going up in price while many of the 512-MB modules we list are going down. Hopefully if you held off another week before purchasing that memory upgrade you're able to save a few dollars. Until next week, happy upgrading and please remember to verify prices on the vendor's website should you decide now is the time to buy!
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
