Memory Pricing Guide |
Weekly Memory Prices - Week of October 21, 2002 - Page 2By Vangie Beal October 22, 2002This week's SDRAM prices remain rather stable, with very few fluctuations. On the down side this week there are $3 savings on both PC133 ECC 256-MB and PC133 CAS3 128-MB modules, while interested buyers will have to toss out an extra $2 for PC100 CAS2 256-MB or PC100 CAS2 ECC 256-MB. As far as price changes go we really couldn't ask for more than this kind of stability - except for major price drops which isn't very likely to happen with old-school SDRAM. DDR SDRAM prices are moving around a bit more than our SDRAM prices this week, but we don't have any major news to report here either. The biggest jump came in on PC2100 512-MB which went up $8 to $107 this week, but several DIMMs including PC2100 256-MB and PC3200 512-MB decreased by $4 and $5 respectively. We finish up our weekly memory highlights with RDRAM prices, and we see only two price changes in this category; PC800 256-MB is down $3 to $87 while PC800 ECC 128-MB dropped in price by only $1. Overall memory prices are holding steady and not heading too much in either direction. While this isn't good news for consumers, since we aren't reaping any tangible rewards at present, but on the flip side, we're not shelling out more money for memory upgrades either. Unlike the memory price fluctuations of a year ago we also aren't seeing too many price drops due to vendor competition, but hopefully some of this will transpire once the "Holiday Rush" really gets into full swing. So until next week, happy upgrading and remember to verify the actual memory price, shipping prices and vendor return policy before you type in your credit card number!
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
