Memory Pricing Guide |
Weekly Memory Prices - Week of October 28, 2002 - Page 2By Vangie Beal October 29, 2002While you may not find a stick of memory in your candy bag this week, we might be able to swing a few deals your way. Those looking for 256-MB of PC100 CAS2 ECC will get treated to an $11 savings. We also have a couple $2 SDRAM price drops to report, but unfortunately those are matched by price increases this week. Both PC133 ECC 256-MB and PC133 CAS3 128-MB are up by $3 and PC133 ECC 512-MB went up 44 to $56.00. While prices aren't going up by large amounts, we are seeing slightly more price increases this week. This week we're seeing quite a few price increases on DDR SDRAM modules. Both PC2100 512-MB and PC2700 512-MB are up by $11 and PC2700 256-MB jumped up $18 to $66 this week. A couple other increases in this category range from $3 to $7, and sadly we don't see a single price drop on DDR DIMMs. Let's hope you weren't planning on treating your rig to a DDR SDRAM upgrade this week! Unlike the other memory areas, we do see a couple price drops on RDRAM RIMMs, including a bonus $15 savings on PC800 ECC 512-MB which went down to $245. A few modules dropped slightly in price this week by $1 and $2, but we also see a couple of slight price increases as well. Overall the price hikes seem to be sweeping through the guide this week, but its nothing to fret over just yet. While at first it had appeared that mainly 512-MB modules were going up, further along in the guide you'll notice that some 512-MB modules also went down in price. For now let's chalk it up to Halloween madness and hope for better results next week, especially if you were considering a high-end DDR SDRAM upgrade. For those looking to upgrade their memory we strongly advise you to check prices just before buying as memory prices can change so frequently online that our guide may differ soon after publishing. So until next week, happy upgrading!
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
