Memory Pricing Guide |
Weekly Memory Prices - Week of November 4, 2002 - Page 2By Vangie Beal November 5, 2002Those looking for high-end PC133 memory will be delighted to see a few falling prices, although anyone searching for PC100 may just end up forking over more money this week. While overall SDRAM prices are fluctuating in both directions, PC100 memory is certainly rising in price, with PC100 CAS3 128-MB and PC100 CAS3 256-MB both up by $4. On the down side we see PC133 CAS3 512-MB is down $3 to $67 and that PC133 CAS2 128-MB also decreased by $3 this week. Unlike SDRAM prices, we're seeing mainly price increases in DDR this week. The biggest price jump can be found on PC2100 256-MB, which is up $14 to $59. PC2700 512-MB also rose in price this week, and is up $8 to $137. The only DIMM to drop in price this week was PC3200 512-MB which fell by $7 to $140. RDRAM is a nice bag of mixed goodies, bringing both larger price drops and increases. PC800 ECC 512-MB is down $5 to $240, while PC800 ECC 256-MB went up $6 to $98. This week the RDRAM savings value is completely dependant on the specific type and size you are looking to upgrade with. Overall memory prices seem to be suffering through a heavy case of the price hiccups, with no real pattern or overall trend present. Some may save a dollar here and there over last week - but we're certainly not seeing the big up and down swings at the present time. For those looking to upgrade system memory we strongly advise you check prices just before buying as the cost of memory can change so frequently online that our guide may differ slightly soon after publishing. Until next week, hopefully you will have saved a few bucks if you decided to buy this week rather than last.
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
