Memory Pricing Guide |
Weekly Memory Prices - Week of November 18, 2002 - Page 2By Vangie Beal November 20, 2002This week brings about a number of short but sweet price drops on SDRAM. While many of the cuts are of the $1 and $2 variety, those couple of bucks are certainly better off in your wallet! Along with these short dips we do have a couple larger price decreases this week; PC133 ECC 512-MB is down $9 to $55 and PC133 CAS3 512-MB is down $8 to $59. This week we don't see a single price increase on SDRAM memory which is certainly good news for those looking to upgrade their system memory this week - especially the 512-MB variety as those, surprisingly enough, are the "big droppers" for the week. Following suit, DDR prices are also down from our last price list. After the price increases of the last few weeks, this only goes to show that memory prices, when we get right down to it - are still as unpredictable as they always have been. While we have the usual group of slight $1 and $2 price drops this week we also see PC2700 128-MB fall $11 to $37, and the 512-MB variety of PC2700 DIMMs have also dropped in price by $7 to $130. Not to be outdone on the price drop scale, this week we get a nice little bonus on PC800 ECC 512-MB, which is down $7 to $222. There is some bad news for those looking for the popular PC1066 256-MB (232 pin), as the price is up by $8 this week. All in all it's a pretty decent week for RDRAM pricing, as the price drops we see tend to outweigh the few price increases. Overall, we have a few better prices and can see that more memory, especially 512-MB modules are going down - slowly but surely. We also see the benefit of a few "vendor wars" as some have lowered their prices to meet last week's buys - and the original lower prices slip down a buck or two to meet that. Let's hope a few of those price drops over $5 stick around and shed even more weight next week. Until next week, happy upgrading!
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
